A Chinese firm has said it plans to modernize two border entries in Zambia’s Copperbelt Province.
Sun Yadong, Managing Director of Zambia Well Investment, said on Wednesday his firm will modernize Mokambo border entry in Mufulira town and Sakanya in Ndola.
Sun was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Copperbelt Permanent Secretary Bright Nundwe, according to the state broadcaster, the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation.
The firm, he said, has set aside 30 million U.S. dollars to erect warehouses, storage facilities, manufacturing and processing facilities as well as banking facilities and parking lots.
According to him, the company was ready to start works once the land was provided.
On his part, the Zambian government official said it was the government’s desire to have all border entries modernized.
Nundwe said his office will accelerate the process of land acquisition to enable the company to set up the facilities which will not only modernize the border entries but create jobs. Enditem
