Zambia’s year-on-year inflation increased by 1.2 percentage points to a double digit figure in September, the country’s statistics agency said on Thursday.

The annual inflation was recorded at 10.5 percent in September from 9.3 percent recorded in August, according to the Central Statistical Office.

The agency in a statement attributed the increase to a rise in prices of food items, with the year-on-year food inflation recorded at 12.4 percent in September from 10.3 percent in August.

On the other hand, the moth-on-month inflation was recorded at 2.0 percent in September from 1.2 percent in August. Enditem
