The mayor of Lusaka on Friday praised a Chinese firm for engaging in recycling in the Zambian capital and urged residents to support the efforts.
Miles Sampa, who toured Hongsen Investment Limited, the Chinese firm that recycles plastic waste into reusable products, said all stakeholders should support such firms because they help protect the environment.
The mayor urged residents and others involved in recycling to support the Chinese firm’s efforts, according to a release from the Lusaka City Council.
He urged people selling along the streets to sell plastic waste to recycling firms.
“Street vending is… illegal under the law,” Sampa said. “So stop it and switch to plastic waste collection for supply to plastic waste recycling companies such as Hongsen Investment Limited.” Enditem
