Zambian social and economic development specialists said on Thursday that the year 2020 is the dawn of a new decade in which the African community should strive to advance economic development on the continent.
The experts have since urged the public to support the development of their individual countries and societies.
“We are all ambassadors of our individual societies, nations and the continent. We therefore have a responsibility as a people collectively as well as individuals to send out affirmative messages about our continent and our individual countries to the rest of the world about the vast potential and opportunities that exist in our societies,” Lawrence Banda said.
Banda, who is immediate Universal Peace Federation-Zambia Chapter Vice Secretary General, noted that development on the continent is tied to the optimism that its people have the possibilities and economic potential of Africa.
He advised that discussions about economic development should shift toward exploiting the potential and opportunities that Africa has so that people begin to reap economic benefits.
And a local think tank said the year 2020 is the start of a new decade and implored Zambians to contribute positively to the development of the country.
“This year presents the start of a new decade and this should inspire us all to elevate our collective resolve of contributing positively to our great nation Zambia,” said chairperson for Policy Monitoring and Research Center Margaret Mwanakatwe.
“As we enter a new year, it is important that we reflect on our collective efforts in our different capacities to address various key paths aimed at national building and development,” added Mwanakatwe. Enditem
