Zambia on Tuesday joined the rest of the world in commemorating the International Nurses Day with President Edgar Lungu, stating that nurses remain a force towards attaining the country’s vision aspiration on health.
“Our nurses remain the vision of comfort to those among us who are ill in all parts of the country and a symbol of reassurance for the affected family members,” he said in his message of goodwill to the nurses.
The event is this year being celebrated under the theme “Nurses — A voice to lead the world to health” and the Zambian applauded the nurses, midwives and other health workers for being heroes and heroines and pillars of the health system.
According to the Zambian leader, the nurses have remained the vision of comfort to people who get sick and a symbol of reassurance for the affected family members.
He further celebrated the role of midwives as first people to welcome human beings into the world while assisting women during childbirth.
“Indeed there are many who owe their lives to you and many more examples we can give that amplify how you have been and continue to be our everyday heroes and heroine,” he added. Enditem
