A government official in Chongwe district in Zambia’s Lusaka Province has commended a Chinese company for heightening COVID-19 preventive measures.
Geoffrey Chumbwe, Chongwe municipal council and executive mayor, made the observation in an interview. He told Xinhua that his visit to Sinoma Mpande Limestone Limited which is situated in the Nachitete area of the district revealed that the firm had put up adequate measures in preventing COVID-19.
The executive mayor observed that the brickmaking and cement producing Chinese firm had shown great concern for the need to prevent the spread of the pandemic at its plant so as to assure the safety of employees and continuity of production.
He said that this was delighting because the government was concerned about the safety of employees and continuity of business amid COVID-19.
He said that it was important for all firms in the district to heighten the preventive measures in line with the guidelines provided by the government through the ministry of health. He said that adherence to the COVID-19 measures was key to safeguarding life and business.
He observed that the company was thoroughly screening every entrant into the plant, had placed hand washing facilities in all departments and that it was also promoting social-distancing.
Chumbwe however advised the company to ensure that it continues to rotate the employees who were currently being accommodated at the plant during their working shifts. Enditem
