Zambia’s investment agency on Friday tried to assure both local and foreign investors that their investments are safe.
The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) said that it will ensure that investors are protected in line with the country’s laws.
“As an agency, we understand the important role investors play in sustainably enhancing economic growth, wealth creation and job creation for the people of Zambia as well as the need to adhere to the laws that govern how businesses are to be run,” Fisho Mwale, the agency’s chairperson said.
According to him, Zambia needs foreign direct investment as it is a conduit of transferring foreign capital investment abroad and directly contributes to expanding investment and tax base in the country.
He emphasized the need to preserve peace and a stable political environment which he said have been vital in making Zambia one of the best investment destinations in sub-Saharan Africa.
Zambia is enjoying very cordial and warm relations with most countries and this has attracted major investments from those countries in key sectors of the economy, he added.
Zambia, he said, needs to preserve the good standing created with investors over the years and that the investors should also observe the country’s laws. Enditem
