Zambia’s year-on-year annual inflation rate increased to 15.7 percent in April from 14 percent in March, the country’s statistics agency said on Thursday.
The Zambia Statistics Agency attributed the increase in the annual inflation to price increases in both food and non-food items.
The statistics agency further said the year-on-year food inflation also increased from 15.2 percent in March to 17 percent in April.
Experts predicted that the inflation rate will continue rising due to depreciation of the local currency, the Kwacha.
The annual inflation has been increasing since the start of 2020. Enditem
