Zimbabwe recorded 16 cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the country’s total positive cases to 479.

The new cases involve five returning residents and 11 local transmissions, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said in a statement.

A total of 63 people have so far recovered from the virus while deaths remain at four.

Zimbabwe has in recent weeks seen a sharp increase in the number of COVID-19 cases mainly driven by citizens returning from abroad.

The country has carried out a total of 61,928 COVID-19 tests to date. Enditem
