After passing through 4 countries on 3 continents and covering more than 22,000 miles, Zuriel Oduwole and her 2 Footballs as part of her #FollowTheBallForEducation initiative have arrived in the Indian Ocean Island nation of Mauritius. She visited historic sights, stopped by a high school, but the highlight of her first few days on the beautiful Island was time with some girls in the lower income neighborhood of Port Louis – the capital. For perspectives, it is equivalent to the Makoko part of Lagos – Nigeria.
She asked the Girls and their parents what they wanted to be in future, and all shrugged their shoulders. Then Zuriel began to tell what she had done in her 11 years, whom she had met, she showed some picture from her FollowThe Ball project, and at the end of it, the children and their parents applauded her.
The significant change was their sudden interest in wanting to have a clear definition of the future, for their own lives.?Zuriel is scheduled?to meet senior government officials next week, who would sign the ball as part of her project support initiative, and speak on gender equality in Mauritius.
