Filth has taken over the compound of Dormabin M/A Primary School in a farming community in the Krachi East Municipality of the Oti Region.
The entrance and classrooms of the school were also covered with dirt which poses health risks to the learners.
The situation could be described as an eyesore with stench and flies from the blocks of refuse, heaped around when the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the school.
Some students who spoke were unhappy and lamented about the situation.
They said the stench from the rubbish dump left uncollected was affecting teaching and learning in the school environment.
A resident, Mr Fredrick Aguide, who resides close to the school explained that during rainfall, the entire compound including classrooms got flooded.
Mr Foster Adom, Assemblyman for the area alleged some residents had to resort to using the school compound as a refuse dump due to insufficient dustbins in the community.
He gave the assurance he would organise a clean-up exercise soon to clear the area of the nuisance.
