Ghana saves US$14 million through renegotiation of contracts

Mr Ken Ofori-Attah, Minister of Finance has said the government of Ghana has saved 14 million dollars through renegotiation of contracts awarded by the previous administration.

He revealed that the contract sum had dropped from $119,101,946.00 to $105 million which represents a savings of $14 million to the country.

Presenting the 2020 budget statement and economic policies to Parliament in Accra, the Minister said the renegotiation was in line with the government’s commitment to give value for money to people of Ghana.

Mr Ofori-Atta said a number of polytechnics and Technical Universities had benefitted from the renegotiation.
He added that the number of Technical Institutes to benefit had also gone up from 10 to 13.

He said the completion time had been shortened from 36 months to 30 months adding “we have added 3 years extra to the 2 years after sale service support and warranty originally negotiated by the NDC”.
