First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, has paid a courtesy call on Hajia Ramatu Mahama, Former Second Lady and widow of the late Former Vice President, Aliu Mahama, at the family home in Tamale to consol her on the demise of her husband. The visit formed part of the former?s two- day campaign tour of the Northern region.
Lordina, who is a family friend of the late former Vice President, commiserated with the widow, assuring her of her continuous support to the family.
She also visited the tomb of the late Former Vice- President where she prayed for the departed. Her emotion however took a better part of her and she could not hold back her tears.
Alhaji Mustapha Ali, a former Regional Minister, on behalf of the bereaved family thanked the First Lady and her entourage for remembering to call on them.
He revealed that Mrs. Lordina Mahama has been a family friend of the Former Vice-President and his family since her youthful days in Tamale. He recalled how he, Alhaji Mustapha Ali, grew-up together with the First Lady in Tamale and the virtues that made her an outstanding woman even in her youthful age. He said to date, Lordina has remained caring, considerate and highly sociable.
The late Alhaji Aliu Mahama passed away at the Cardiac Unit of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on the 16th of November and was buried at his home in Tamale.
The First Lady’s entourage included Mrs. Sherry Ayittey, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Hajia Fati Jawula, Ambassador to Denmark, Hajia Gariba Boya, Deputy Minister of Women and Children’s Affairs, Mr. Moses Mabengba, Northern Regional Minister and Hajia Zaynab Mahama, First Deputy National Women’s Organiser of the NDC.
