Maj-Gen. Djangmah, described ?as a patriotic man without question, and a soldier?s soldier” who served this nation fervently for almost 40 years as an officer of the Ghana Armed Forces, died on July 11.?

Mr Jeremiah T. K. Djangmah, son of the Maj-Gen. Djangmah, told the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday that detailed funeral arrangements would be announced later.

A profile of Maj-Gen. Djangmah made available to the GNA indicated that he was enlisted into the Ghana Army in 1963, and served the nation under the Nkrumah government all through other administrations to the Kufuor administration in 2001.

His life of patriotism began early as a young journalist (reporter and newscaster) employed at the state-owned Ghana Broadcasting Service (now GBC) at the era of the new birth of the nation.

Shortly after, he leap-frogged into the Army as an officer. Loyalty, discipline and dedication to service, to fight and to die for his nation, was his principle and duty.

He rose through the ranks promptly, working diligently both on the national and international levels.

He held several postings throughout his illustrious military life, his illustrious career life at the various brigades that he served and commanded such as, the Fourth Battalion, Mortar Regiment/Artillery, Staff College, HQ, Support Services, among others.

He loved his country and remained politically neutral and incorruptible.

Although he rejected ministerial or core political appointments, he accepted secondments and appointments in positions of authority which were quite public.

Some appointments outside of his core military duties that he served included, National Sports Council, Director of Prisons, and Chairman of Accra Hearts of Oak Football Club in 1972.
