The capacities of 1,613 police detectives from nine regions have been upgraded since March this year.
This is in response to ?concerns arising from poor performance by detectives,? Director-General of Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Commissioner of Police, Mr Prosper Kwame Ablorh said in Ho on Thursday.
He was addressing the closing session of a two-weeks training programme for 192 aides-to-CID in the Volta Region.
Mr Ablorh said decentralizing the training to the regions was a cost effective way of expanding training opportunities to more personnel.
He urged personnel to exhibit professionalism, diligence and tenacity of purpose and work within the confines of the law, because the Police administration would not protect personnel who indulged in disgraceful practices.
?A total of 15 Policemen are being prosecuted? for indulging in criminal offences, Mr Ablorh said.
He expressed gratitude to eight business entities and institutions for supporting the training session.
These are Allied Oil, J. K. Horgle and Transport Company Limited, Tema, Holy Trinity Spa, and Hotel Cisneros both of Sogakope, Afeloto, Royal Hospital, and OLA Girls SHS all of Ho and Diamond Cement of Aflao.
The Volta Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Peterkin Gyinae told the participants that the Police Administration looked forward ?to make much, much good use of you all?.
He said they would be closely monitored and those who performed below expectation would be withdrawn from their roles.
Course Coordinator, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ms Evelyn Borbor was hopeful that the enthusiasm, discipline and time consciousness of the trainees during the session would reflect in their performance on the job.
Topics treated included rudiments of investigation, criminal procedure, report writing and basic principles of policing.
