Rangers late show beats 3SC

Two late goals on Wednesday gave Enugu Rangers full marks at home against traditional rivals 3SC in a rescheduled Nigeria league game.

Rangers have now leapfrogged 13th-placed 3SC as they have now recorded 26 points from 16 matches and have three matches outstanding.

Shooting Stars looked like they could earn a precious point on the road before Rangers forward Oghogho Odoukpe tucked away a penalty in the 79th minute after Dada Bitrus was pulled down inside the box.

And in stoppage time Ugonna Uzochukwu doubled the home team?s lead.

Senegalese defender Pape Sane of Rangers was sent off after he picked up his second booking four minutes after this goal.

Chibuzor Madu said that he was delighted to win against his former club.

?I am the happiest man in the world that we won today. It would have been a disgrace for me had we not won as I left 3SC three years ago and wanted to prove a point,? Madu said.

Goal scorer Uzochukwu described his goal as ?the best goal of my entire career?.

Shooting Stars held out with young goalkeeper Abiodun Akande in superb form.

The visitors also created several big chances late in this encounter but they could not put any away.

3SC media officer Jubril Arowolo said that they played the match under protest because Rangers fielded their former goalkeeper Emmanuel Daniel, who they claim was not duly transferred to the Enugu club.
