Ghana Stock Exchange’s composite index edged up 0.07 percent Monday as Access Bank shares surged nearly 10 percent, even as GCB Bank’s decline weighed on trading value.
The GSE Composite Index closed the session at 14,621.40 points, up 10.25 points from Friday’s close of 14,611.15. The GSE Financial Stocks Index gained more, rising 44.06 points, or 0.58 percent, to 7,651.52. Total market capitalization stood at GH¢277.19 billion. Cocoa Processing Company and Republic Bank Ghana each rose more than 9 percent, and Dannex Ayrton Starwin added 8 percent. On the Ghana Alternative Market, Digicut Production and Advertising climbed more than 6 percent.
GCB Bank was the heaviest decliner among actively traded stocks, falling GH¢2, or 4.76 percent, to GH¢40. Even so, GCB dominated the session’s activity, accounting for more than half of total value traded, at GH¢10.02 million on volume of 250,324 shares. Kasapreko slipped nearly 2.7 percent.
MTN Ghana, listed as Scancom, remained the most actively traded stock by volume, with 916,562 shares changing hands worth GH¢6.26 million, even as its own share price eased a cent to GH¢6.84.
Monday’s session extends a strong year for Ghanaian equities. The benchmark index has gained 66.72 percent since the start of 2026, and the financial index 64.65 percent, a rally that has tracked the country’s sharply lower inflation, a stronger cedi and the completion of its IMF-backed stabilization program earlier this year.
