Derek Boateng claims the Black Stars are focused on the 2014 qualifiers

Midfielder Derek Boateng insists the Black Stars have recovered from the 2012 Nations Cup heartache to mount a fresh challenge in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.

Ghana’s ambition of ending a 30-year wait for an African title was brought to an abrupt end when they lost 1-0 to Zambia at the semi final of the tournament co-hosted by Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

Boateng-who was sent off in the semi final loss-says the team is well over the massive semi final disappointed and does not have revenge in mind.

“We are ready to play against them, they had the luck in that game at the Nations Cup,” the FC Dnipro ace told MTNFootball.com.

“It was our most improved game at the tournament but unfortunately we couldn’t win and that is football.

“We are not going with the sole aim of revenge. We will play our normal game and hopefully it will be good enough to get us the win.”

Ghana host Lesotho in the opening 2014 World Cup qualifiers on June 1 in Kumasi before traveling to face the Chipolopolo in Lusaka.
