The Bono East Regional Minister has reaffirmed his support for the third edition of the Ghana Agrochemical and Crop Protection Exhibitions and Awards (GACA), pledging to help make the Techiman event more impactful than its two previous editions as organisers step up preparations for a May 2026 launch.

The commitment came during a courtesy visit by the Agrihouse Foundation, led by its Executive Chair Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, to the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council in Techiman. The delegation expressed appreciation for the minister’s backing of last year’s event and laid out the strategic direction for the third edition.

Regional Minister Francis Owusu Antwi said Bono East’s status as one of Ghana’s major food baskets made it the natural home for an initiative that connects farmers with modern inputs ahead of each planting season. He said GACA gives farmers direct access to quality agrochemicals, improved farming techniques and agribusiness partnerships that translate into higher yields and greater food security. He described his commitment to the upcoming edition as unequivocal, saying he intended the Techiman event to become a flagship for agricultural innovation in the region.

Akosa said GACA was designed as a one-stop platform that prepares farmers with the right knowledge and inputs before the planting window opens, and that the partnership with the regional coordinating council had been central to its growth. She noted that beyond product exhibitions, the event provides structured access to agricultural experts and builds networks that support long-term farming sustainability.

The 2nd GACA, held in Techiman under the theme “Sustaining the Climate and Environment: The Role of Input Dealers,” drew farmers, agro-input dealers, agribusiness companies, policymakers and development partners across two days of expert-led training, product demonstrations and direct farmer-supplier engagement.

The 3rd GACA is being organised by Agrihouse Foundation in collaboration with the Bono East Regional Coordinating Council, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) and the Bono East Agriculture Directorate. Organisers say the edition will feature an expanded range of exhibitors including seed producers, fertilizer suppliers and irrigation technology innovators, and will incorporate programming on youth employment and market access for crops and produce.
