-????????? Nmai-Dzorn Land Owners Speak!

?The Chief of Nmai-Dzorn, Nii Okpelor Sowah Ablorh on behalf of the Head of Family, the Council of Elders and the Representative Committee have disassociated themselves from the ongoing? impasse ?between General ?( Rtd )Arnold Quainoo ?and some alleged owners of ?some portions of the 43 acre land at Nmai Dzorn which is under contention.

According to the Chief and his elders, they as members of the Okpelor Sowah Din family have nothing to do with the ongoing impasse and that neither him nor ?the Head of family, Mad. Kai Sowah Okpelor ?sold the said land in contention to Joseph Amarquaye and his people as they alleged in their recent press conference.

Speaking to Nii Okpelor Sowah Ablorh, he made it categorically clear that the land in question still remains the property of the Okpelor Sowah Din family, adding that? he has caused writ of summons to be served on? General? Quainoo? in July 2012 over ?his continuous claim to that parcel of land, though his lease agreement expired in 2009, and that since the case is still pending at the Court, he can?t take the law into his hands to sell the those lands.

The Chief?s reaction came at the heels of a press conference organized by one Joseph Amarquaye and his associates, supported by their legal counsel claiming that General Arnold Quainoo had caused the demolition of their structures being put up on the said land which they acquired from the Okpelor Sowah Din family.

They alleged that they have all relevant documents regarding the ownership of the said landed property, making them the rightful owners of the land.

Joseph Amarquaye and his people also claimed to have in their possession a writ of possession to the land granted to the Okpelor Sowah Din Family, which General Arnold Quainoo contested in Court but was ruled against, making them (Okpelor Sowah Din family and Joseph Amarquaye and his group) owners of the land.

But, the Chief of Nmai-Dzorn who could not hide his bewilderment stressed that the said writ of possession that they are relying on might have been procured fraudulently.

According to him, his attention has been drawn to a letter from the Judicial Secretary dated 19th August 2013 which has been posted on many properties in Nmai Dzorn, ordering execution per the Writ of Summons dated 15th August 2013.

In that Order For Leave To Issue Writ Of Possession, the former Head of Family who died about seven years ago has been substituted by his ( the Chief )? younger brother, Jacob Ablorh Mensah as the head of family.

He expressed regrets that Jacob Ablorh Mensah, a grandson of Numo Okpelor Sowah Din is now fighting his aunt, Mad. Kai Okpelor Sowah, a child of Numo Okpelor? Sowah? Din over the property of Numo Okpelor Sowah Din, forgetting that he Nii Mensah as he calls himself set the precedent by forcefully using the Teshie Agbawe Elders through the High Court to impose Adjorkor Sowah Okpelor, the elder sister as the Head of Family arguing that by Ga customary law and usage, biological children inherit their parents.

According to informationrecieved by this paper, When Adjorkor died in May 2010 the same Nii Adjei Okplen We Elders who inducted Adjorkor as the head of family inducted Kai as? the new head of family in June 2012. Jacob Mensah is now saying a woman should not be a head family and he has made himself head of the Okpelor Sowah Din family.

?How can you fight your mother over her father?s property?? The Chief queried.

In February 2013, Nii Adjei Kati, head of? Nii Adjei Okplen We, the? parent family of the Okpelor Sowah Din which has the sole customary jurisdiction over the Okpelor Sowah Din family and Mad. Kai Sowah Okpelor issued a Writ of Summons against Jacob Ablorh Mensah and a Relief refraining him from parading and, or holding himself as the head of Okpelor Sowah Din family.

Subsequently, some of the La Agbawe elders joined Nii Adjei Kati and Mad. Kai to issue another Writ of Summons against Jacob Ablorh Mensah.

?Jacob Ablorh Mensah has duly entered appearance for the suits meaning he is very much aware of pending suits. Then why did he fraudulently substitute himself to Eugene Odametey Sowah as head of family on 19th August 2013??

According to the Chief they suspect that the so-called writ of possession was obtained by fraud that the right thinking members of the family do not recognize it.
