Ghana Cocoa Farmers cry over bad nature of road

The chiefs and people of Tikobo Number Two, mostly cocoa farmers, have expressed disaffection at work done on the four-kilometre road linking their farms and the town.wpid-cocoa-farmers.jpg

They have, therefore, appealed to the Cocoa Board to inspect the road before the contractor is paid.

Mr Stephen Ackah Wangalah, a spokesman for the people, made this known at a public forum on Draft Jomoro District Medium-Term Development Plan (DMTDP) at Tikobo Number Two.

The programme was organized by the Jomoro District Assembly, in collaboration with Friends of the Nation (FoN), a Non-Governmental Organization, operating in the Western Region.

According to Mr Wangalah, the road linking the town to ?Ohia Ma Adwen,? was awarded by the Cocoa Board for spot-improvement.

He said the contractor left the site about three months ago, without constructing three culverts, and gravelling the road.

Mr Wangalah said the contractor rather constructed single culverts on areas that needed double culverts, leaving part of the road flooded during rains.

He said the people drew the attention of the contractor to the poor work he was doing, but did not mind them before finally leaving the town unceremoniously.
