The gang leaders are still at large

Officers of the Edo State Police Command, on Tuesday, intercepted a seven-man robbery gang that had been disturbing the peace of the metropolis.
Four of the robbers were arrested after a gun fight with the police, but the leader of the gang, known as Director, and his lieutenant, Sakpoke, however managed to escaped.
The arrest was made possible following the information given by a member of the gang, who had been in police custody.
The state Police Commissioner, Olayinka Balogun, while parading the suspects, said his men confronted them after they robbed a guest house along Airport Road in Benin City.
He said the suspects had in their possession two mobile police uniforms belonging to officers who left their hotel room in search of food.
In one of the suspect’s confession, he said they came to the guest house after they learnt that a woman, who lodged there, was in possession of N4.6million.
“When they arrived the hotel, they forced the receptionist to the room where the mobile policemen were lodged. They forced themselves in but fortunately the mobile policemen were not in the room. So they collected their uniforms and magazine containing 30 rounds of 7.6 live ammunitions,” Balogun said.
“After they left the hotel, they robbed a banker and snatched his Passat car. After that, they headed towards the area where my men were waiting and when they saw the police, they opened fire. We responded and that was how we rounded them up after exchange of gun fire.”
