With barely a month for the start of the world cup in football home Brazil, expectations are high for African football to be triumphant. A European country has never won a world cup trophy on a South American soil ever, could this be a moment and favour for an African country to win the world cup for the first time. African countries remain numerically unbalanced and represented at the world cup. The history of numerically unbalanced representation of Africa at the world cup should suggest to most football commentators and pundits to be fair to African nations at the world cup.

The five teams Nigeria, Ghana, Algeria, Ivory Coast and Cameroon in the world cup have the support of ?CAF to excel at Brazil. CAF President Issah Hayatou leads the campaign, African teams have potential talents to win the world cup but the continents representatives at the biggest football stage lacks mental strength and team spirit to excel against their opponents.

The five nations representing African continent are the hopes of Africa with much expectations that at least one team must be in the semi finals at Brazil 2014. In 1990,2002 and 2010 world cups, Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana reached the quarter finals showing that reaching the semi final for an African team is possible and feasible. African under 17,20 championship successes, two Olympic medals and African players playing in the top flight major leagues in Europe also contributes to high expectations for African teams in the summer world cup in Brazil.

No foreign coach has ever won the world cup, could this be a plus and advantage for the African teams who are managed by their countrymen like Akwasi Appiah and Stephen Keshi. From only one team in 1970 world cup to five teams in 2014, the representation of African football at the world cup has increased substantially. African teams still remain in fears at the biggest football stage but African players like Yaya Toure, ?Kwadwo Asamoah etc ?are over achieving in Europe but fails in the world cup.

Mystery and history might happen in South American soil at Brazil 2014 world cup if an African team can reach the semi finals and progress to the finals and possibly wins the trophy for the first time in Brazil.
