A referee shows off how the spray works
Players slowly edging forward in the wall during free-kicks are set to become a thing of the past ? with Fifa confirming plans to fully introduce ?vanishing spray?.
The recently developed spray is carried by referees in their pockets during matches, and will be used when a free-kick is given.
The spray is often used in South America ? but not Europe
The ref will march the defending wall back 10 yards, before spraying a white line that they must not cross.
The line will disappear within one minute ? and will cut out defenders trying to get ahead by sneaking forward.
The spray has recently been used in Brazilian Serie A matches, and will now get its first major outing during the World Cup.
