The Kingdom Book warehouse in Prampram on Sunday morning caught fire destroying hundreds of books in the warehouse in the Greater Accra Region.

But for the intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service, the fire could have spread to other houses nearby.

The cause of the fire is as yet unknown. However, eyewitnesses say the fire started somewhere between 5:00am and 6:00am on Sunday morning.

In all, four buildings which comprise the warehouse complex have been completely razed down by the fire, with the loss of property running into millions of Ghana cedis.

The Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Henry Quartey yesterday visited the site, on the behalf of the President, to commiserate with the management and staff of Kingdom Books.

He assured them that full investigations would be launched into the incident to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.

“An investigation would be conducted and when the report is out, you [the media] will be the first to know,” the Minister said.

The Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Director in-charge of operations for National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) Abu Ramadan and some local officials of the North Dorwenya District Assembly.
