The President of Ghana Professor John Evans Atta Mills has given assurance to Ghanaians that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by him will do everything humanly possible to keep the sanctity of Ghana’s democracy, and will not allow Ghana to burn under his watch.
Speaking to a reporter with Radio Gold an Accra-based FM station in Lome-Togo, President Mills called on Ghanaians to love one another and desist from negative acts that could mar the unity and peace in the country.
“We are all one family, so nobody should tag one another as enemies in this year’s December 7 polls,” he advised.
Touching on the hitches which have characterized the ongoing biometric registration exercise, the leader of the NDC and chairman of the Ghana armed forces said there was the need for Ghanaians to deal with each other in the best of faith.
“There will be challenges in the registration exercise, but it does not mean that you should impute any ill-motive to anybody, they will be resolved such as things have been resolved in the past, we will do nothing different,’’ President Mills said.
President Mills echoed his government’s resolve to defend the democratic credentials that Ghana had carved for itself.
President Mills said he was confident of winning the 2012 presidential elections on the bases of the successes his government had chalked.
“I am not saying this because I am Atta Mills or as a member of the NDC, it is because most of the promises made to the people had been fulfilled.”
He stressed that, if you look around you would see evidence of our handiwork. Nobody will tell you there is the need for us to renew pour mandate so we can continue to do more for the people.’’
He said, “nobody can doubt that the living standards of the people have improved! Nobody can doubt government determination to guarantee Ghanaians can hold body and soul together, our record is there for all to see.’’
