Ghana awaiting World Cup playoff opponent in CAF draw
Zambia coach Herve Renard insists Ghana is strong enough to bulldoze its way through the playoffs to qualify for the 2014 World Cup.
The Black Stars are one of ten countries who will be battling for the five qualification slots from the African continent.
Ghana will however have to progress from a final playoff round against an opponent to be determined in a CAF draw later this month.
The Black Stars are expected to be seeded for the draw due to its superior position on the CAF rankings and will be avoiding strong teams like Cote D?Ivoire and Nigeria.
Ghana could however be facing crack sides in Cameroon, Egypt or Senegal in the draw to be conducted on September 16.
But Zambia coach Renard who tasted defeat against Ghana last Friday on the final qualifier in the group phase says the Black Stars ought not to fear any side going into the playoffs due to their consistency and reputation in Africa and World football.
?How can Ghana fear any team in Africa, not possible,? he told GHANAsoccernet.
?Your team have been consistent ? third in 2008 Nations Cup, quarter finals in the World Cup 2010, finals and semi finals in AFCON 2010 and 2012.
?You are the best in terms of regularity.
?Ghana shouldn?t fear any team. You are strong enough. You will go to Brazil.?
Renard has in-depth knowledge of the Black Stars as he was part of the Ghana technical team under the leadership of his French compatriot Claude Leroy between 2006-2008.
Ghana is chasing a third successive World Cup appearance following progressive stints in Germany and South Africa in 2006 and 2010 respectively.
