Islamic Hamas movement on Sunday blamed Israel for the military escalation, following the launch of retaliatory rockets toward southern Israel earlier.

Fawzi Barhoum, Hamas spokesperson in Gaza, said that Israel is responsible for the escalation with the Palestinian militants in the Gaza Strip, after killing Mohammad al-Na’em on Sunday morning and pulling his body with a bulldozer.

He said that the militants’ response is “a natural result of the continuation of these crimes and the Zionist violations against the besieged people of Gaza.”

Earlier, Islamic Jihad militant group said its armed wing, Saraya Al-Quds, fired the rockets in retaliation for the killing of al-Na’em.

Israeli army said that al-Na’em was killed east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip after approaching the fence of the border between Gaza and Israel in an attempt to plant an explosive device. Enditem
