Uganda’s insurance sector grew by 13.2 percent in 2019 to 973.58 billion shillings (263 million U.S. dollars) from 859.8 billion shillings (232.4 million dollars) in 2018, a report issued here on Wednesday said.

Insurance Regulatory Authority of Uganda in its report said the growth was above the industry target of 950 billion shillings.

The insurance regulator attributes the growth to non-life business which generated about 622 billion shillings, up from about 218 billion shillings registered in 2018, representing a 26.8 percent growth in premium. Enditem
