The UN, EU and AU have together donated $70,000 to Mali to support the country’s electoral process.
The money will be used to put in place a mechanism for informing voters about their polling stations during the July 28 presidential elections.
Through the new mechanism, voters will receive an SMS via the two mobile operators, Orange and Malitel, informing them about their polling stations.
“The UN has disbursed the funds to facilitate Mali’s electoral operations and end anxiety over the participation of voters,” the resident representative of the UN Development Programme (UNDP), Aurelien Agbenonci, said.
