Pastors have been cautioned to eschew pride, which has the tendency of ruining their lives and their God-given ministry.
Apostle J. F. K. Mensah, Chairman of the Apostolic Council of the Great Commission Church International (GCCI), said as men of God rose higher on the spiritual ladder; naturally people would turn to shower praises upon them, which had the tendency of making them proud.
He said God wants to use pastors for his own glorification to draw more people into His kingdom; but He does not share His glory with any man.
?Pastors must learn to listen to people who criticize them, than to be looking for praises from people who love them,? Apostle Mensah said on Sunday in his closing remarks at the GCCI ? Ghana 2015 General Council Meeting in Accra.
The four-day meeting, which was attended by pastors and their wives, the Board of Trustees, presiding elders, deacons and deaconesses from all assemblies in the country, was on the theme; ?Striving to Know God Better?.
The meeting reviewed the activities of the church over the past year and adopted a number of resolutions for implementation by the National Executive Council.
Apostle Mensah urged pastors to emulate the life of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who, during his earthly ministry, always sought to glorify his heavenly father and to do things that please God at all times.
Apostle Mensah further counseled pastors to strive to know the God they served better, adding that men of God must learn to hear from God; so that they would be in an effective position to tell the people what God wants them to do.
He admonished Christians to follow the teachings of their head pastors; which, according to him, would lead to greater blessings and rapid church growth.
Apostle Professor Samuel Asuming-Brempong, GCCI – Ghana Chairman, launched the church?s publication dubbed; ?Making Christ-like Disciples Workbook One: The Disciple?s Foundation?.
The book, authored by Apostle and Mrs J. F. K. Mensah, would be used as teaching material for Sunday schools, home cell meetings and discipleship.
Prof Asuming-Brempong announced that GCCI would be observing its silver jubilee celebration next year and urged all branches to prepare adequately to make it a success.
