Thiago Motta, Paris Saint Germain’s former FC Barcelona player, is eying a move back to Spain.
Speaking to the French sports paper, L’Equipe, Motta suggested that he was interested in a move to Atletico Madrid.
“I want to leave PSG. My intention is to leave the club,” said Motta. “I’ve always been honest with the bosses at the club and I’ve now confirmed my ambition. They know I need other motivations to continue to keep playing at the highest level in my career,” said Motta, who said he would speak to club owner Nasser Al Khelaifi.
“I will talk to Nasser Al Khelaifi and together we’ll find a solution that’s good for everyone. I understand PSG’s position, but I’d like them to understand mine. I’ve spoken to the coach, I think he understands my feelings. It’s not up to me, in the end it will be Nasser,” said Motta, who had no hesitation in giving Atletico as his preferred destination.
“We’re talking about Atletico Madrid,” said Motta, whose performance was disappointing at a prior spell at the Spanish club.
“It’ s a club where I couldn’t give it all I wanted, something that only happened to me at that club. For me it would be a great challenge,” he said.
Atletico have already signed central defender Stefan Savic, as well as strikers Luciano Vietto, Jackson Martinez and Yannick Carrasco, while midfielder Mario Suarez has left the club. Enditem
