The NDC, loath as I am to admit it, is the longest serving political organization in our history as far as power is concerned. However, some of it’s activities and decisions over the years have tended to project a section of Ghanaians while relegating others to the islands of insignificance.
The Akans dominate Ghana in terms of population but they are the least respected by the NDC. When it comes to the Ashantis, the least said about them, the better, as they are the most marginalized community or region
in the country! Otumfuor Osei Tutu Ababio couldn’t have put it better when he expressed his displeasure about the discrimination being meted out to his people in the world of employment. It is an established fact that being an Akan, generally, and an Ashanti, specifically, is a greater disincentive for one to be admitted into the public sector. The facts on the ground support this sacred assertion.
Another point worth mentioning is the distribution of developmental projects. The Accra-Suhum stretch of the Accra-Kumasi highway has been neglected for the past six years whilst new contracts are being awarded for road constructions in other regions. One doesn’t need to overstretch the imagination to realize that this is as a result of their hatred for Akans! Tamale deserves an international airport, so does Takoradi. The Kumasi airport is unfit to be upgraded to an international one, because it is in the Ashanti region, according to President Mahama and his NDC.
How many Ashantis do we find in Mahama’s appointments? Is it the case that the Ashantis aren’t educated enough? This is a misconception! I happened to apply for one of Rowland Agambire’s overheated rlg laptops Mahama was distributing to win votes. Many of my friends also did. I was shocked to realize my name wasn’t part of the beneficiaries, but those who bore Ewe names in my department were given the laptops. Out of about 300 successful applicants, only 20 were Akans, 60% were Voltaians and the remaining number came from the three northern regions. This was a clearer indication that Akans are the foreigners in Ghana!
The capitation in the health insurance scheme has been in operation in the Ashanti region for over three years now. We were told it would be rolled out into the other nine regions in no time. This monstrous policy has killed
thousands of the people in Ashanti all in the name of a pilot project! The Ashantis have been reduced to robots and animals meant for NDC’s experiment, and this is another indication that Mahama and his NDC hate the Akans, especially, the Ashantis, with extreme passion! The Ashanti region is second to none when it comes to Mahama’s never- ending power outages, all because the people do not sing the chorus the NDC sings, therefore they must be classified as second class citizens of the land!
All these and more lend credence to the unimpeachable fact that the NDC spectacularly hates Akans in general, and the Ashantis in particular!
