Accra Hearts of Oak coach Nebojsa Vucicevic wants his countryman Goran Stevanovic retained as Black Stars coach.
The Serbian, who is involved in his own battle for title at the Phobians, feels Ghana will be better served with Stevanovic, especially with the 2014 World Cup qualifiers due in June.
“If Asamoah Gyan had scored that penalty I am sure Ghana could have gone on to win that semi-final and maybe the trophy. Goran has said he wants to win trophies for Ghana and I think the GFA must give him time,” he said.
Stevanovic promised to walk if Ghana did not reach the final of the Nations Cup but has backed away from that saying it is up to the Ghana Football Association to make that decision.
The Serbia’s contract will run out on February 12, 2013, and sacking him with one year on his deal could come at a heavy cost to the Ghana Football Association.
