Friends of General Blay Nzemaland Education Trust Fund, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), operating in the Nzema area of the Western Region, has built a one-storey building Administrative Block for the Annor Adjaye Senior High School (ANASS) at Ezinlibo.
The building costing Ghc80,000 consists of an Internet Cafe, Computer Laboratory, Offices for the Headmaster, Assistant Headmaster, Accounts, and a General Office.
The rest are Staff Common Hall, Wash Rooms and Lavatories.
General Augustine Peter Blay, the immediate past Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) is currently Ghana’s Ambassador to Cote D’ Ivoire.
She urged the students to give back to the school what they were benefiting from, when they became well-to-do citizens in future.
The Minister said she has been inspired by the efforts of members of the NGO for contributing to provide facilities to educational Institutions in the Nzema area.
Madam Tetteh, who was the Guest of Honour, told the chiefs and people of the area to contribute towards the development of the School which is a Community Senior High.
General Blay hoped that with the available facilities at the place, students of ANASS would learn hard to attain good results in their examinations.
He appealed to the students to reciprocate the gesture by taking their education very seriously.
Throwing more light on the activities of the NGO, the chairman of the Management Board, Mr Dan Borsor, said the NGO has already provided the school with a 100KVA-standby electricity generating plant.
It has also supplied large quantity of textbooks and computers to the school, as well as the Half-Assini and Nsien Senior High Schools (SHSs).
According to Mr Borsor, the NGO has built a similar block for the Half-Assini Senior High School.
Mr Borsor indicated that the Organization, aimed at promoting quality education in the area, was sponsoring 30 brilliant but needy students from the area to receive tertiary education.
Other members of the Board are Mr Stephen Blay, Research officer, Ministry of Energy, General Peter Augustine Blay, former CDS, Major Dominic Buah, Lawyer John Eric Jainie and Alhaji Tofiq.
The organization which is non-partisan, voluntary and Non-Profit making, was formed about six years ago in honour of the former CDS on his assumption of office as CDS.
