Winifred Oy-Ita, Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Science and Technology, made this known during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Contec Global Agro Ltd. on building of Bio fertiliser factory at Sheda Science and Technology (SHESTCO) Park.

The Contec Global Agro Ltd. , founded on the platform of e-governance and smart technologies, is among the experienced independent technology and systems organizations operating in developing countries.
Oyo-Ita said that Nigeria had given top priority to agriculture and wanted to support the farmers in regaining the country’s position as a leader in Agriculture.
She said bio-fertilizer would activate the soil, biologically control the diseases, and was cost effective when compared with expensive chemical fertilizer.
In his remarks, Thomas Chackunkal, Managing Director of Contec Global Agro Ltd., said the company was ready to set up a state-of-the-art Research and Microbiological Laboratory in the FCT.
“It is lovely that the Ministry of Science and Technology is facilitating the setting up of this most modern and fully integrated production facility for a bio-fertilizer and organic complex in its SHESTCO Park,” he added.
According to Chackunkal, this will be the first and largest organic fertilizer factory complex in the whole of Nigeria and in Africa.
He added that plans were also being drawn up to put up such facilities in the eastern and southern parts of Africa. Enditem
