Street lights which were fixed on the Accra-Tema Motorway by government to curb road traffic accident and nocturnal activities have all burnt to ashes and stolen by thieves, Pulse.com.gh can confirm.
The glass fibre made streetlight poles, were destroyed by either cutting with hacksaw or burning at the base whiles others were burnt at the base with lorry tyres..
The stretches of grass between the carriageways have been burnt.
The non-functioning street lights on the Accra-Tema motorway, according to our investigations, have given cause for motorists to panic as their lives could further be endangered through road crashes on that stretch of the road.
Most of the poles knocked by vehicles were also seen lying on the ground, but not cut off.
