Almost four years now and Simon Asare Adjei popularly known as Ntakra has for the first time addressed his BNI arrest to the public.
In October 2011, Ghanaian musician Ntakra Simon was reportedly busted in Accra for an alleged fraud and according to him, it took him close to two-years to untangle himself from this capture.
No one really understood what led to his arrest since he decided not to address the issue with any media house.
Well finally, GhJoy.Net has caught up with Ntakra and he has detailed why he was taken by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) 4 years ago.
Ntakra believes someone he thought he could have trusted set him up with his arrest.
He narrates his story below..
I came to Accra with plans of making it big with my music and as a street boy, i met one man who told me he could help me finance my music, if i do one thing for him. I asked him what that was and he answered – Just go to the bank and withdraw money for me, i will give you your cut and thats all.
As naive as any Koforidua boy who just visited the capital the very first time was, i agreed to the terms and started working for him. One day the Bureau of National Investigations invited me around and because i didnt know what the call was, i attended to them and the next moment i saw was myself behind bars.
I called the guy who gave me this offer to come and save me since i didnt know what was going on and that of which was about to happen to me.
After he was informed i am spending some jail time in prison due to the act he involved me, he never tried coming to the station and till now, i havent heard or seen him.
I lost almost everything and everyone i loved especially when my father passed away as a result of this same BNI situation. With all these pains i was experiencing, i nearly gave up in life, specifically, with my music career.
He furthermore went ahead to show appreciation to friends, families and the president of MUSIGA, Bice Osei Kuffour (Obuor) for coming in to offer Ntakra a lawyer who saved him from Nsawam, where he was finally heading after proven guilty in his court trial.
I say a very big thank you to everyone involved in my absence from Nsawam. Especially, Obuor, for giving me a lawyer who helped proved my innocence to the world. Good news is, i am back home and there is no court case for me. I am totally a free man. He laughs
Ntakra Simon is currently promoting the music video for his single which features MC and Bisa Kdei dubbed Oyonkou.
