Pastor Chris Yaw Karamoah, Financial Controller of Ghana Education Service (GES) has charged Senior High School (SHS) teachers to train students with entrepreneurial skills.
He said the teaching of entrepreneurial skills would produce graduates who would help eradicate the unemployment canker in Ghana.
He added that teachers should work hard and remain dedicated in developing industrial skills in the lives of students who would be the future leaders of the country.
He mentioned this during the 6th seminar on entrepreneurship for teachers in selected senior high schools at the Kama Conference Centre in Accra.
The seminar was under the auspices of Kama Education Project (KEM) in collaboration with GES and themed: ?Entrepreneurship- 21st Century Revolution?.
He said teachers must help students appreciate the entrepreneurial value of every course studied.
?The essence of entrepreneurship is to bear risk. The more risk an individual is willing to bear, the higher the chance of success?, Pastor Karamoah said.
He noted that graduates who are churned out every year from educational institutions, became dependent on the economic system which was unable to provide jobs for them.
?We have to churn out students who are creative and innovative, students who can generate ideas and turn them into economically viable business to support themselves and create jobs as well?, he said.
He however noted that, teachers in the 21st century must be in touch with the entrepreneurial revolution.
Dr Michael Agyekum Addo, Director of Kama Education Project who spoke on the topic :?Linking Courses of Learning to Entrepreneurship- the Teacher Factor? said SHS teachers should encourage students to learn other vocations that motivate them to be entrepreneurs.
He added that, teachers should train students to develop the right imaginative brain in order for them to be able to find solutions to the problems facing the nation.
He said the teachers should consider attitude, skills and knowledge as the main factors to train students in the senior high schools.
He however noted that teachers should identify special talents that could fight unemployment and poverty in the global economy.
He therefore urged teachers to always train students to develop their right imaginative brain.
