The Nigeria Bar Association NBA Borno State Chapter has called for on all the relevant authorities to ensure speedy resolution of the on going judiciary workers industrial strike stressing that the strike has crippled court activities for over two weeks.
The Chairman of the Maiduguri branch of the NBA, Barrister Abdulwasiu Alfa made the appeal yesterday Tuesday in Maiduguri while delivering his speech during the Annual Law Week of the Maiduguri/ BIU branches of the NBA.
Barrister Abdulwasiu regretted that the strike has shut down all courts across the country and paralyzed court proceedings especially hundreds of administration of justice by various courts.
He also lamented that the lingering security challenges in the state have posed a lot of judicial challenges on the administration of justice in general and legal practice in particular nation wide.
?It has succeeded in crippling a substantial aspect our means of livelihood; it has, in fact, threatened our values and essence. Today, legal practice is narrowed to the state capital only. No one get brief outside Maiduguri. Legal practitioners are very precarious and vulnerable situation,? Alfa said.
The Chairman further explained that the annual law week provides a platform for members of the legal profession to acquire and improve their skills and knowledge in their field of practice within their domain for enhanced productivity.
