Stars Fired up for GMAs Tomorrow

Organisers of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards Festival 2012, Charterhouse, has said audience at tomorrow’s awards ceremony will have value for their money as the very best of music performances from top notch artistes will be put up.

The performance list for the GH¢100-ticket event includes big names like Efya, Sarkodie, EL, Kwaw Kesse, 4×4, Edem and Guru, Buk Bak, Kaakie and Cwesi Oteng.

The Ghana Music Awards Festival features other African artistes on the final event and this year, Charterhouse has flown down some really hot acts to be on the stage.

They are HHP from South Africa, Cabo Snoop from Angola and the Chocolate City guys from Nigeria, made up of MI, Brymo, Ice Prince and Jesse Jagz.

NEWS-ONE has gathered that the stars billed for the night are tense and they have decided to out-do each other in what appears to be a ‘who-is-who’ performance.

EL for instance, NEWS-ONE gathered, was still rehearsing Thursday night just for the Saturday show and had pledged to put up the performance of his life.

The event is scheduled for the Dome of the Accra International Conference Centre tomorrow night and reports say tickets have run out.

A huge chunk of the auditorium will be converted to accommodate the elaborate stage/production that the organisers will be constructing while the lighting and sound concerns of patrons seem to have taken top priority as the production team try to transcend the many challenges that the venue presents.

According to the organisers, patrons should expect an extraordinary experience highlighted by an elaborate red-carpet reception and well thought-through stage appearances.

Who Wins What

Expectations have reached a crescendo over who will emerge as the overall Artiste of the Year.

That category has the likes of Becca, Okyeame Kwame, Sarkodie, Efya, R2Bees, Kwaw Kesse and 4×4. It is indeed a tight category but it will be surprising if the award goes to R2Bees or Efya.

For the new artiste of the year category, it is surprising that D-Cryme got nominated to compete with Atupam, EL, Raquel, Stay Jay and Zigi. Who told the organisers that D-Cryme qualifies for a new artiste contest?

We believe it will be between EL, Raquel, Stay Jay and Atupam. If it goes to D-Cryme, we will be disappointed and get our pens screaming.

Though almost all the categories are tight, one category that will certainly generate controversy is the Most Popular Song of the Year.

It has 4×4 competing with ‘Yese Yesi’, Stay Jay with ‘Shashee wowo’, D-Cryme with ‘Kill Me Shy’, Sarkodie with ‘You Go Kill Me’, Zigi with ‘You Say Wetin’, Okyeame Kwame with ‘Faithful’, Atupam with ‘The Thing’ and Selina Boateng with a song called ‘Me Nku Me Hu’.

We will rather not hazard a guess over this category because it can go to any of the nominees.

We wish all the nominees well and may the best artiste win.
