The United Cares? Front (UCF) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has observed with shock, the raising down of Tema Central Medical Stores of the Ministry of health by fire yesterday. This sad development should not be considered an accident but rather an intentional and sponsored wicked act by political saboteurs who are determined to make this country ungovernable.

We take this position because the precedence of fire out-breaks since the NDC was voted back to govern this country are too overwhelming for us to consider them as mere accidents. It is recalled that just in the first quarter in the first year of the Ata Mills? administration, we recorded the burning down of the old Foreign Affairs edifice in Accra.

That, to us was the first baptism of making the country ungovernable as threatened by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) because there has been a consistent trend of sabotage activities engaged by a cross section of the public which we suspect are covertly instigated by the opposition. Rationally, therefore, we would not be far from right to attribute these retrogressive developments to its statement of making this country ?UNGOVERNABLE?.

These ?patriots? of destruction have singled out the burning of major public assets as their main modus of operation which they feel ? and rightly so, can cause disaffection for the NDC Party in government. That is why from the old Foreign Affairs Ministry, electricity transformers, markets and many other vital public facilities have been burnt since the NDC took over the leadership mantle of Ghana.

Ghanaians ought to be reminded of the threat by the Asante region?s chairman of the NPP?s threat of demonstration against the introduction of pre-paid meters by the Electricity Company of Ghana and immediately after that the ware-house that housed the meters was burnt down.

The UCF is stating here emphatically that these saboteur activities and especially the Tema Medical Stores fire must be thoroughly investigated because we believe the ARSONISTS are within. We urge the immediate invitation of the management and security officers of the facility to aid in investigation.

We also urge government to as a matter of urgency secure public utility installations as pertains at the Volta River Authority to forestall further destruction of public property. The Ghana Water Company, Electricity Company of Ghana, Tema Oil Refinery and others must be well secured by patriotic operatives of National Security to avert further human-induced disasters.

We hope and belief that somebody/institutions are listening.
