Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, has declared that the Kojo Ashong Bridge will reopen to traffic by the end of this weekend, following repair works initiated on July 6, 2024, due to its deteriorating condition.
The decision to close the bridge was prompted by concerns over its safety, with reports of heavy-duty vehicles and passenger vehicles experiencing instability while crossing.
“As per the engineer overseeing the repairs, the bridge will be reopened for commuters and residents by the close of work on July 13,” announced Minister Titus Glover.
Expressing gratitude to all involved in facilitating the maintenance work, the Minister assured the public of ongoing efforts to address similar concerns at other critical bridges, including the Papase and Afienya bridges. These efforts aim to ensure the safety and convenience of residents in these areas.
“We are coordinating efforts to ensure that these bridges are repaired promptly for the benefit of our community,” he affirmed.
The reopening of the Kojo Ashong Bridge marks a significant step in enhancing local infrastructure and ensuring the safety of road users in the Greater Accra Region.
