Syria says that Turkey’s moves towards intervention on its soil were “an act of aggression against a founding member of the United Nations.”
The accusation came in letters from the country’s Foreign Ministry to UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon and the chairman of the Security Council, state news agency SANA reported.
“The approach announced by the Turkish government is a blatant violation of the United Nations Charter, which requires respect for the sovereignty of every state and non-intervention in their internal affairs,” the ministry was quoted as saying.
The ministry accused Turkey of having provided “all kinds of political, military and logistical support to terrorist organizations” and aided the arrival of foreign fighters in Syria.
