The federal government has assured that the over 200 schoolgirls kidnapped from Chibok in April would soon be rescued.
Coordinator of the National Information Centre and Director General of National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr. Mike Omeri, yesterday said the government would not be forced to release information about the success recorded so far in the rescue operations of the Chibok girls, but said security forces were close to achieving their mandate.
?We are moving closer to finding the girls, that I can confirm to you, all other information are still classified, please bear with us,? Omeri said.
He said the ?chief intelligence officer? of the insurgents recently arrested by the security agents was helping with the rescue effort, adding that the other key members of the sect that had been arrested were helping with information on the girls.
Speaking on the alleged escape of 63 women from the Boko-Haram camp, Omeri said the government was making efforts to verify the information.
?We have put calls across to verify the information, we do not have facts and we don’t want to speculate,? he added.
Omeri had earlier denied that over 60 women were kidnapped from Damboa after the April kidnapping in Chibok.
Omeri commiserated with families of officers and men who lost their lives in the recent gun battle with the insurgents.
