The Daily Mail reports that 18-year-old Victoria Siegel was the second oldest child of David and Jackie Siegel?s eight children. The family rose to fame after the documentary Queen of Versailles showcased the billionaire family?s attempts at building the largest privately-funded home in America, which is twice the size of the White House. It also discussed the family?s ?rags-to-riches? story along with their ?struggles? through the economic crisis.
Victoria Siegel, 18, was found unresponsive at her parent?s Seagull Island mansion on Green Island Cove on Saturday afternoon. The family and their extravagant lifestyle gained international attention after the release of the 2012 documentary The Queen Of Versailles
?The film follows two unique characters, whose rags-to-riches success stories reveal the innate virtues and flaws of the American Dream. The film begins with the family triumphantly constructing the largest privately-owned house in America, a 90,000 sq. ft. palace. Over the next two years, their sprawling empire, fueled by the real estate bubble and cheap money, falters due to the economic crisis. Major changes in lifestyle and character ensue within the cross-cultural household of family members and domestic staff.?
The family was also featured on the show Celebrity Wife Swap in which matriarch Jackie revealed that she and her husband do not spend much time with their children and instead allow the house staff to do most of the work. It was also revealed that Jackie really only had the children because David promised to give her a new diamond necklace for each child she gave birth to for him. As a result, David notes that Jackie would have the child and then allow staff to do the rest.
?So we have a staff that raises them. She brings them home, turns them over to somebody and they change the dirty diapers.?
Therefore, it may come as no surprise that Victoria Seigel?s body was found by a member of the Seigel?s house staff who called for help. David Siegel told investigators that he will be making a public statement in the coming days, but in the meantime would like privacy on the matter. Authorities say they are working with the Medical Examiner to determine an official cause of death for the teen.
