A support group, ?Girls Girls for Nana Addo Victory 2012 Campaign,? made up of women and girls of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has been launched in Accra to rally support for the presidential candidate of the party.
The group intends to mobilize support for the NPP leader to ensure justice regarding the challenge of the outcome of the December 7 presidential elections.
It is also aimed at training young women in leadership positions to enhance their role in governance and decision making.
The launch of the group at the La Dadekotopon Constituency over the weekend was witnessed by prominent personalities of the NPP including Oscar Nii Odoi Glover, NPP parliamentary candidate for La Dadekotopon constituency, Christian Nkansah, constituency women?s organizer, Frank Davies, constituency chairman and Adwoa Safo, NPP parliamentary candidate for Dome Kwabenya constituency.
Nii Odoi Glover, who launched the group, stressed the importance of young women and girls in the formation of a critical mass to promote the interest of women in the country.
He said the initiative will help revamp the policies of the NPP.
Abena-Sika, Coordinator of the group, explaining the rationale behind the formation of the group, said women and girls constitute the majority in the country.
She said when the NPP comes into power, Nana Addo would ensure free Senior High School (SHS) education, which would increase the illiteracy rate of women.
She therefore charged young women to reject any form of enticement from the ruling NDC and support the NPP to seek redress in the law court.
