For failing to honour their part of the contract, telecommunication giant GLO may be sued by ‘Hip life’ duo Wutah who took the music industry by storm with their hit song ‘Big Dreams’.

The duo known in private life as Daniel Morris (Wutah Risky) and Frank Osei (Wutah PV), although not together as a group anymore is not content with refusal by the company to pay them for the work they did for company before their separation in 2010.

According to Wutah Risky who now want to be called ‘Afriyie’, during their contract-signing with the company on February 1, 2009, which included several other showbiz personalities in the country, they were made to understand that their contract was to cover a period of three years.

Speaking to Channel R on its 205 Total Entertainment programme last Friday, Afriyie, who said he is currently working on his first album, lamented that apart from the first year where GLO honored its promise, the company has failed to pay for the year 2010.

He said during 2010 that the company failed to pay them, GLO, as was contained in the contract prevented them from performing for any other competing telecommunication company.

He recalled that in that same year in Takoradi, where organizers of the Ghana Music Awards (GMA) held a party for artistes nominated for the awards, they were refused by GLO to perform as they sent them a message reminding them of their contract.

Asked by the host if their separation may have contributed to the company’s refusal to pay them, Afriyie said that could not be true because they are not asking for payment for the third year, but the second year, since they could not work as a group in the third year.

“We worked with the company by travelling to South Africa and within parts of Ghana to shoot commercials as part of the contract”, he said.

Since every attempt to persuade them to pay has failed, they(WUTAH) are talking to their lawyers to take the necessary action against them by way of suing them.

Wutah came together as a group during a programme at Wesley Grammar Secondary School in Accra. They are both trained in engineering.

They got their first big break while performing in the Ghana contest for Nescafe’s African Revelation where they placed second. They were known as Ojah at the time which also means fire in the Akan language.

Their debut album, “Anamontuo”, was a major success which won them an unprecedented 11 Ghana Music Award nominations. “Big Dreams”, one of their hits, has become one of the biggest reggae hits outside Ghana, even gaining airplay in Jamaica.

Some of their popular songs include Adonko, Burning desire, Den, Lomnava, Nonnsia abo, Foriwaa, Menye den, Alomo. After their separation, Wutah Kobby has released his first album with hit song ‘Tsotsoo’.
