A total of 1,645 reports of suspected corruption were reported in 2015, down from 2,245 in 2014, according to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

Timothy Moono, the agency’s public relations manager, attributed the drop to intensified anti-corruption efforts where the public have been empowered with knowledge on what constitutes corruption.
“Of the 1,645 cases received in 2015, 482 reports contained elements of corruption as compared to 577 in 2014. Out of the 482 reports, 23 were authorized for investigations as compared to 469 in 2014,” he said in a statement emailed to Xinhua.
Corruption must not be accepted as a way of life because its negative consequences on the social and economic life of the nation are too harsh, he added
The anti-corruption agency has expressed commitment and dedication to the fight against corruption in order to achieve government’s goal of having zero tolerance for the vice. Enditem
