South Africa?s High Commissioner to Ghana Ms Lulama Xingwana has revealed that some four persons have threatened to burn down the commission in Accra.
According to Ms Xingwana, the four persons stormed the High Commission?s premises on Friday in an attempt to cause mayhem, but the security attachment at the Commission managed to control the situation.
?We have reported the matter to the Police and we have received the support from the Police to make sure that the premises are safe,? Ms Xingwana said.
She added that it is important that the commission is protected, since both Ghanaians and South Africans work there.
?You would know that those are not offices that belong to South Africa. There are also offices that belong to the people of Ghana and, therefore, we have an interest?whoever is there must be protected at all time?.
Black Migrants in South Africa are being attacked by locals who accuse them of taking over their jobs.
10 people have so far been confirmed dead in the latest wave of xenophobic attacks that started in the coastal city of Durban.
Addressing the media Monday, Ms Xingwana condemned the attacks saying jobless South Africans must go through the proper process to secure one.
Five Ghanaians have been confirmed dead, since the attacks started, but Ghana?s commission in South Africa has stated that the deaths are not related to the attacks.
